The mechanical corkscrews form certainly part of the category in which the inventors excelled. The 19th century was very prolific in inventions, during this period the systems had of cease to improve, the idea being, of course, to decrease the physical effort allowing the extraction of the cork. Some were more eccentric or more clever than others, but they allow today us collectors to appease our passion.
